Sean A. O’Connor Joins Lueder, Larkin & Hunter to Manage South Carolina Community Association Practice Group
Lueder, Larkin & Hunter, LLC is pleased to announce that Sean A. O’Connor has joined the firm as a Partner and will lead the firm’s South Carolina Community Association Law practice.
Sean A. O’Connor brings more than two decades of legal experience to LLH, including more than 18 years focused substantially on community association law. His practice has included advising condominium, homeowners, and property owners associations on governance, covenant enforcement, collections, construction defects, real property disputes, and litigation, as well as representing clients in business, commercial, insurance, and general civil matters.
Throughout his career, Sean has worked closely with community association boards and professional managers to address the legal and operational issues that arise in the day-to-day governance of associations. His approach emphasizes practical, common-sense solutions designed to help clients resolve disputes efficiently, manage risk, improve collections, and operate their communities effectively.
Sean’s addition marks an important expansion of LLH’s community association practice into South Carolina and reflects the firm’s continued commitment to serving community associations throughout the Southeast.
“Sean brings exactly the combination of experience, judgment, and industry involvement that we were looking for as we expand our community association practice in South Carolina,” said LLH Partner Joseph C. Larkin. “He understands both the legal issues and the practical realities facing boards and managers, and we are excited to have him leading this next phase of our growth.”
Sean has been actively involved with the South Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI-SC) since 2008 and has served on its Board of Directors, including as Chapter President in 2023. He also serves on CAI-SC’s Blue Ribbon Committee and has served as the Chapter Board’s liaison to the Legislative Action Committee. Since 2020, Sean has served as Chair of the South Carolina Bar’s Community Association Law Committee.
In addition to his legal practice, Sean is a frequent speaker on community association law and regularly presents educational programs for board members, managers, and other industry professionals. He has also authored articles addressing association lien practices and other legal issues affecting community associations and previously taught legal writing as an adjunct faculty member at the Charleston School of Law.
Sean earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he was elected to the Order of the Wig and Robe, received CALI awards in Evidence and Mass Torts, and served as an Associate Articles Editor of the South Carolina Law Review. He also holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky University.
Sean will practice from LLH’s Charleston office and will work with the firm’s attorneys and staff to expand LLH’s community association services throughout South Carolina.
“We see tremendous opportunity to build on the firm’s longstanding community association experience and bring that same level of service to associations in South Carolina,” Sean said. “I am excited to join LLH and to continue helping boards and managers find practical solutions to the challenges they face.”
