David C. Boy, IV has represented condominium and homeowner associations for his entire legal career.  As general counsel for community associations, David advises boards of directors on corporate governance matters, covenant enforcement and compliance, contract drafting and review, transitioning from developer to owner control, amending governing documents, dispute resolution, condemnation/eminent domain, lending, and any number of day-to-day legal issues.  Having served on the board of his own association, David understands the difficult decisions boards often have to make, and the need for practical, effective, legal advice.

David has an extensive civil litigation background, representing hundreds of associations in all phases of litigation, including enforcement of covenants and easements, collection of assessments, and contract disputes, as well as defense of claims against associations and directors, including Fair Housing Act, water runoff, property damage, corporate governance, member/shareholder disputes, and tort claims. He advises clients on measures they can take to help prevent litigation or to best position themselves to defend claims that arise.

David is a regular presenter to board members and property managers through the firm’s real estate school and Board Boot Camp seminar.  He is an active member of the Georgia Chapter of Community Associations Institute (“CAI”), is a member and past chair of CAI’s Education Seminar Committee, and a contributor to CAI’s Georgia Commons publication.

After graduating magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a BA in history in 2004, David earned his JD degree from Georgia State University and joined the firm 2007.

David, his wife, and three children live in Johns Creek, Georgia.  During his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, coaching his kids’ sports teams, serving as a mentor with Kids Hope USA, and rooting for the Atlanta Braves and UGA Bulldogs.
