Joanna Eljazzar is a partner in the firm’s Community Association Insurance Defense practice. With more than a decade of litigation experience, Joanna represents condominium associations, homeowners associations, community association managers, board members, and other insured parties in a wide range of disputes and claims. She is also a certified mediator, which gives her additional insight into dispute resolution, settlement strategy, and the practical considerations that often drive litigation.
Before joining Lueder, Larkin & Hunter, Joanna spent many years practicing community association law and litigation with another Atlanta community association law firm. During that time, she developed extensive experience handling complex litigation, insurance defense matters, covenant and rule enforcement disputes, creditor’s rights matters, real property disputes, and general corporate litigation. She also served in significant leadership roles, including leading the firm’s litigation department and its hybrid enforcement and collection practice.
Joanna is known for her practical and responsive approach to litigation. She works closely with insurance carriers, claims professionals, community association managers, and volunteer board members to evaluate risk, develop efficient litigation strategies, and guide clients through each stage of a dispute. Her longstanding relationships throughout the community association and insurance industries allow her to understand not only the legal issues involved in a case, but also the operational and business concerns facing her clients.
Joanna began her legal career in New York, where her practice included corporate defense litigation, asbestos defense, and entertainment law. After returning to Georgia, she expanded her practice to include community association law, commercial litigation, real estate matters, and creditor’s rights. She is admitted to practice in both Georgia and New York.
Joanna earned her Bachelor of Arts in Business Marketing from Georgia State University in 2008 and her Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in 2012. She is active in the Georgia Chapter of the Community Associations Institute and serves on its Fundraising Committee.
Outside the office, Joanna enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and family, supporting industry and firm events, and exploring everything the Atlanta area has to offer.
